Characters seem charismatic, nice designs and interesting world. It's an original with 12 episodes announced, so they'll have to go straight to the point. With one more cour they would be able to better explore the potential worldbuilding, but a competent team should be able to overcome this limitation.

The opposite of it. It's a blend of the most bland tropes in the Japanese third rate fantasies, made into an original series. With a direction all over the place that does not support the content. Whoever is writing this has entered a phase of horrible creative impotence.

1. The beast-people that make their dumb animal noises. A very cringy trope that is supposed to... I don't know, offer authenticity for a fantasy series where a beast-like creature behaves differently from humans? Is it supposed to be just cute, alternatively? Creative impotence.
2. When the prison/facility escape is happening, we are shown a few windows with lights. When they sound the alarm, suddenly all the windows are lit up. While it looks slightly cool, it is a logical nonsense. These windows are cell rooms and there is no reason and even way they just lit up all the cells. Leaving access to a flammable/electrical item such as a lamp to prisoners/experiments is a security hazard. In short, creative impotence.
3. Action scenes or dumbly flailing weaponry against massive monsters by random soldiers, and then a spear throw that... just... goes in and falls out. Sorry, we have attack on Titan with carefully choreographed actions scenes. This one is not even creative impotence, it's just a terribly lazy, but common, action scene writing.

Those are a few examples that just show that the authors could not care less, or are not that bright to conceptualise the series on a level that would not warrant this quality assurance nitpicking. If you are fine with these issues, cool. I have standards, however, which I am willing to uphold by not watching third rate series.

You’re joking right? I never noticed the beast people making “beast noises”. When the lights came on it was the soldiers waking up the the alarm and turning on their lights. The spear thing was to show that convectional weapons were ineffective on the giant beasts. I agree it wasn’t the most creative way to do it, but it still got the point across. All of your examples were hyper specific and don’t detract from the story. Not every anime can be perfect in every way.

Well, logically if you already know after 30 years that hand thrown spears serve little to no purpose would you continue to serve up cannon fodder spear men at your targets as if they would, for some unknown reason, change the fact? But still, The special arrows fired by the archers did neutralize the beast and also even affect the prototype cleric girl and those spear men were simply bait to lure the creature... As for the lights, is it not possible that the lights were not IN the cells but having their light cast through opened door shutters and bars out to those window slots? I'm making too much of this since clearly there is a form of MAGIC in the writer's world and when dealing with magic worlds... anything is possible such as flying stingrays...

definitely reminds me of several anime, but honestly what hasnt been rehashed at this point in the genre? Still seems interesting, tropes are just tropes and often reshuffled, it doesnt define the story or art.

We will see, I guess. I am betting on the opposite. Might come back to see the final episodes to judge the resolution in a vacuum, but other than that I have no hopes for this series.

I think there is a stronger element of political intrigue here as well. Along with underlying ethical and moral commentaries on abuse of power and when is a person a person.

Art is eye-catching and the animation above a low-budget still frame effort so it is promising.

So is kissing the forehead the way for an escort to start the ritual to borrow the power of a Paladin? I was not expecting that and I find the idea amusing.

In Vivid Operation for the borrowed/combine power was a kiss on the forehead while Valkyrie Drive Mermaid transforming was way lewder.

Small correction if I may, he is the paladin and he is borrowing the power of the cleric, the girl is some kind of prototype cleric I guess and now bears a ring of promise which likely makes her unique among those clerics.

Wow. The world building and characters feels like a Final Fantasy. I wish I could play this story as an RPG.
